About Møsbrømlefse
The recipe for the Møsbrømlefse we serve has been passed down by Trude from her grandmother, who lived in Misvær in Nordland, Northern Norway.
In the old days, møsbrømlefse was made on baking days, as the final dish after long days of baking.
The lefse is made from simple, coarse ingredients such as barley flour, rye, and wheat flour. It is frozen and then reheated on a griddle before serving.
The filling consists of sour milk, prim, sour cream, butter, and sugar. When it becomes warm and soft, the lefse is folded and served piping hot.
Traditionally, it is eaten as finger food, where pieces are torn off and dipped into the møsbrøm. Today, it is also served with cutlery.
This is a rich and traditional dish made from authentic dairy products from mountain farms, and it is often considered a full meal.
